The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development has released a new white paper for physicians to understand important information before responding to questions on “causation” in workers’ compensation cases. The white paper, “Special Instructions to Physicians Regarding Causation,” explains how causation is determined under the new WC law.
Fred Bissenger, Regional Managing Member with Wimberly Lawson, suggests clients make sure all authorized treating physicians have this letter along with other documentation needed when sending an employee for treatment. He stressed that many times, physicians assume when the employee says they were hurt at work that causation is not being sought.
